NeuroCenter EEG Online bails out with an ‘Out of Memory’ error upon loading
NeuroCenter EEG Online runs locally in your browser and thus requires a decent amount of memory. This is usually only found on desktop computer systems and / or high-end mobile hardware. You are probably trying to run it on a mobile browser on your phone or consumer grade tablet, which is (currently) not supported. No worries, just fire up your laptop and try again. We’re not going anywhere in the meantime.
NeuroCenter EEG Online responds slowly when using large EEG files
Handling files up to 1.5 GiB works pretty well in the online version of NeuroCenter EEG. If handling of larger files is required, we’d recommend using one of the dedicated desktop versions of NeuroCenter EEG, which can be found in the Download section of this website. Versions for Windows / MacOS / Linux desktops are available, which provides the same functionality as the online version.
Data integrity
Is medical data exposed when I use NeuroCenter EEG Online?
Medical data is never exposed to neither the general public or to us, unless you explicitly decide to do so. NeuroCenter EEG Online is deployed in your local webbrowser and runs there in a so-called Virtual Machine. All the file handling is done locally. When you open a local file from your desktop, it is put inside the sandboxed container of the VM of your browser.
You mention ‘When I explicitly decide to expose’. When does this apply?
Exposing data can only be done when a file is uploaded to your cloud storage and a public sharelink is created. The creation of the link is an explicit action to be taken by the user from within the viewer. A random and unique ID (unrelated to any information in the file) is generated, which the user can copy and distribute.
How is data security and integrity provided for files I store in my online cloud storage?
There is a multi-layer approach with regards to security and integrity provided. First of all, all data is transferred using end-to-end encryption. Secondly the data is stored in an encrypted vault, where no-one but you can access the data. Hence we recommend you keep your online storage credentials in a safe and protected place (i.e. a password manager), as even we cannot recover the data in case of lost of these credentials. Furthermore, the data is stored in ISO27001 certified data centers within continental Europe.
